Cost and Finance

Resident’s Agreement – The resident’s agreement is a signed contract between you (or your Enduring Power of Attorney) and the Aged Care Home. It encompasses what care and services you can expect and what will be provided, in addition to the financial costs involved for you.

Accommodation fees can consist of three parts, depending on your financial situation. These are:

  • Daily Care Fee
  • Daily Accommodation Charge
  • Means Tested Fee

An Assets Assessment Test will be required to determine your financial situation and can be obtained from:

  • The Department of Health & Ageing
  • Centrelink or
  • Department of Veteran Affairs

You are requested to make an appointment with the Director Aged Care to discuss and complete the process of the Resident Care Agreement. Please call our receptionist on 08 8366 8261 to make this appointment.

The cost for receiving Residential Care is indexed and adjusted by the Department of Social Services and you will receive notification of this in writing when this occurs.

Prior to receiving approval to go on the residential care waiting list we will provide you with some additional very important information on the Aged Care Reforms and how these changes may affect you when deciding about relocating to a residential aged care facility. This information will include:

  • Means testing of residential home care
  • Residential Aged Care accommodation payments
  • How these will impact on a full pensioner, a part pensioner and a self-funded retiree.

We strongly advocate that you seek prompt, expert financial advice so that you can make the best informed decision.

The most significant change regarding fees and charges in residential aged care relates to accommodation payments. This information is readily available and can be viewed on the My Aged Care website. Alternatively, the Director of Aged Care can discuss this with you or your advocate once you have prepared all the required documentation in readiness to go on the waiting list.

If a vacancy becomes available and after viewing the room you accept, an appointment will be organised to meet with the Director Aged Care so that she can provide you with additional information which includes the legal obligations of entering into a resident agreement.
