As we fast approach the peak of winter people often begin to hibernate or think of flu’s and colds and wet weather. That said we have a few exciting events lined up in the coming months that always provide some much needed entertainment and relief from the winter dreary. In June we see the Nursing Home throw open its doors for the ACSA National Open Day on the 19th. There will be tours, activities, Devonshire tea and a staple favourite the sausage sizzle. Following this we have the all important quiz night on the 24 July which is sure to be another great night and one where my table intends to defend our crown as the winning table!
This month we held the Hand Hygiene awareness campaign to coincide with Hand Hygiene week where many of the mangers and staff donned there blue printed t-shirts branding the slogan ‘clean hands save lives’. The week kicked off with an event and raffle on Monday 4 May supported by the Whiteley Corporation.
Of course in these months it would be remiss of me to not mention that we are about to embark on our fluvax campaign and if you haven’t seen the posters yet the message is easy ‘….roll up, then ROLL UP…’. This year we hope to better our numbers from 2014 which means having over 147 staff vaccinated against this year’s flu.
Also in May we celebrated and acknowledged one of our largest workforce at NECH our Midwives and Nurses on the 5 and 12 May respectively. A morning tea was provided on both days as well as representatives on site from Hesta and EPAC on International Nurses Day.
Finally at the end of the financial year we intend to hold again our staff baked potato day which was a success last year from the feedback we received so watch this space for the date and then keep those stomachs poised for a dose of warm potatoes with all the dressings served to you by senior management.
