by Annette Nelson, Acting CEO
I must confess that when I stepped in as acting CEO of North Eastern Community Hospital a few weeks back, it was with some degree of trepidation… as there was the uncertainty of keeping the ship moving forward in the same manner in which Scott Williams did whilst preparing the organization for a new CEO.
In hindsight, I need not have worried.
True to form, Scott’s handover was thorough, making the process relatively seamless and senior staff have all absolutely excelled in their leadership abilities and stepped up to the plate in all areas. This team work has ensured that NECH continues to provide the quality service model to all patients/care recipients and VMOs which we are synonymous for.
During my short few weeks at the helm and with the support of the executive team, I have been able to keep the ship on course and now look forward to handing over responsibility to our new CEO, Michele Smith, who will join us in a few weeks.
We are most fortunate to have attracted a person of Michele’s calibre as we stand at the dawn of an exciting new chapter for NECH. Michele, a registered nurse by profession, has some 32 years’ experience in the South Australian health system, much of it in health administration and leadership as a Regional Director of multiple hospitals and aged care facilities.
Her passion for health planning, quality and safety and innovation in business has had an enormously positive impact on the people she has worked with and the organisations she has served.
I know Michele is thrilled to be joining us at such an exciting time in our history and, working with the Board, staff and community, leading us to continued strong growth.
I know, too, that just as we came together to farewell Scott and wish him every success in his new career, we will again show our community spirit in welcoming Michele and wishing her well.
